Our staff is well trained in anesthesia and patient monitoring. However, there is always the risk of complications with any anesthesia or surgery. To decrease this risk we highly recommend that your pet receive preoperative lab work including blood cell count and blood chemistry analysis. We routinely find 10% of patients with underlying disease that will not allow us to do surgery. An intravenous catheter placed in your pet prior to surgery will keep blood flow and blood pressure from dropping during anesthesia. It will also allow administration of medications if there are any complications.
